Live music without a fee – for a donation
We are around sixty musicians from the Stuttgart region who have been giving charity concerts for seriously ill children for more than ten years. On request, some of us come to you – to a celebration, an anniversary, a reception.
We do not charge a fee. Instead we ask for a donation to our association, which goes entirely to HOPPS: the home-based paediatric oncology nursing service at Olgahospital Stuttgart, caring for children with cancer at home so they do not have to stay in hospital between treatments.
For you that means good live music and something worth talking about that evening. For us it means reaching people who would otherwise never hear of HOPPS. Together those two work remarkably well.
Occasions
Company or Christmas party
Twenty minutes of live music between the speeches and the food – and instead of a fee, a donation goes to seriously ill children. For many companies that is precisely why they invite us.
Anniversary
A company anniversary, a club’s birthday, a handover. A musical moment people talk about afterwards – and one that suits an occasion where you are looking back anyway.
Parish event or charity evening
Churches, schools, service clubs. We are at home in this region and know the conditions: a small stage, little technology, but an audience that listens.
Reception or gallery opening
Where music sets the tone rather than taking centre stage: piano and voice, quiet enough for conversation, good enough to listen to.
From piano and voice to a full band
How many of us come depends on the occasion – and on who is available. Everyone takes part voluntarily, so we agree the line-up in conversation and say openly what is possible.
Piano and voice
The smallest format: a grand or electric piano and a singer. Fits into any foyer, needs hardly any equipment and is usually the easiest to arrange at short notice.
Small ensemble
Three to five musicians, acoustic or lightly amplified. The usual set-up for company parties and anniversaries.
Full band
The line-up you know from our concerts. It needs a stage, power and lead time – but then it is a performance, not background music.
What we usually play
The same as at our concerts: songs that mean something to the musicians personally. From pop and soul to rock ballads, musical and gospel numbers – mostly familiar, always in our own arrangements. If you have a wish, just say so; it can often be arranged.
What you should know
- Length
- Usually 20 to 45 minutes. Longer is possible but needs to be discussed early.
- Lead time
- Four to eight weeks. The larger the line-up, the more lead time – coordinating volunteers takes a while.
- Area
- The Stuttgart and Ludwigsburg region. Further afield is possible; then we talk about travel costs.
- What we need
- An open space, power and – depending on the line-up – a piano or room for an electric one. We bring the equipment or agree it in advance.
- What it costs
- No fee. We ask for a donation in keeping with the occasion and the size of the performance – agreed openly in conversation. With a donation receipt, of course.
- What you get
- On request we name you as a supporter on our website and channels – and you are welcome to communicate it yourself.
What we are not right for
So that nobody is disappointed: we are not a substitute for a party band. If you need a whole evening of dance music, a wedding from 8 pm to 2 am or a fully choreographed show, you are better served by a professional band – for example Dropzone, with whom we have been connected for years.
What we are good at is the special moment: a performance that lifts an evening and brings a reason with it.

Ideally with a few details: the occasion, date, place, roughly how many guests and how long we should play. We will reply within a few days and tell you honestly whether and how it can work.

Entirely to HOPPS
In 2025 the HOPPS team supported 53 families at home and covered 16,300 kilometres doing so. Since 2015 we have passed on more than 100,000 euros. The association works entirely on a voluntary basis.
