"Was uns am Herzen liegt" enters its third round – meet Yvi Szoncsò, Gabriel Illert and their band VONA BUNT.
In the exciting weeks leading up to the concert, we introduce, as always, our musicians and fellow campaigners – those who will be on stage on concert night and those who help out and cheer us on behind the scenes. Even in round three, none of this feels like routine. In this post we turn the spotlight on Yvi Szoncsò and Gabriel Illert and their band VONA BUNT.
Yvi – our musical director
Dr. Yvi Szoncsò is the musical director of "Was uns am Herzen liegt", performs on stage as one of the lead singers and also plays electric violin. In parallel, Yvi leads the WUAHL VocalEnsemble, a group of around ten singers who already took part in WUAHL in 2017.
What does it mean to be the musical director of a project with so many artists and musicians? The musical line-up of WUAHL – various solo singers, band, VocalEnsemble, choir – offers wonderful possibilities for bringing the songs to life. For every single concert, second, third and fourth vocal parts are specially composed and arranged; instrumental arrangements have to be written and the song structures rehearsed in efficiently planned rehearsals. Yvi handles all of this seemingly effortlessly and with a professionalism that is second to none.

Gabriel Illert, Yvi's partner, is the drummer of "Was uns am Herzen liegt".
Together as VONA BUNT
Together with Yvi, he founded the band VONA BUNT, which in recent years has delighted the newcomer scene with catchy earworms and lyrics and arrangements that are as clever as they are witty. Yvi's songwriting and artistic professionalism shine through at VONA BUNT as well.
Alongside Yvi and Gabriel, VONA BUNT singers Sophia and Kathy as well as VONA BUNT guitarist Andy Newman will also be on stage at the Friedenskirche on 19 October.
