View from the mixing desk across the packed Friedenskirche Ludwigsburg: beams of light over the stage and a glowing heart on the vault

What an evening! On 17 October, the Friedenskirche Ludwigsburg was filled with music, goosebumps and heart. Heartfelt thanks to everyone who celebrated with us, sang along and supported HOPPS.

Around sixty people took to the stage at the fifth big benefit concert of “Was uns am Herzen liegt”: nine soloists, a nine-piece band, the vocal ensemble, the Solitude-Chor Stuttgart with the Soul Voices, and the Wolfbusch Children’s and Youth Choir. As always, every one of them brought along a song close to their heart – from rock and pop to soul, musicals and choral music. And many of them told us why.

Thank you, dear audience

You filled the Friedenskirche with life, clapped along, sang along and gave us a standing ovation at the end. With every ticket, you supported HOPPS, the home care service for seriously ill children and young people at the Olgahospital Stuttgart. Without you, this evening would not exist. Thank you!

An evening for Freya

This concert was dedicated to Freya Casey, who passed away in June. Since her first appearance in 2017, Freya graced our stage like very few others. At the end, we all sang her own song “You Are the Light” together – with every performer, hearts on the ceiling and snowflakes of light falling over the audience. Freya will live on in every note. Our tribute to Freya

That evening, we also remembered Klaus Breuninger, who led the Solitude-Chor and the Soul Voices for many years. His choirs were on stage for him, too.

Watch and listen to the concert again

The whole evening was professionally recorded in sound and vision. Over the coming months, we will publish the recordings song by song here on our website under Videos. If you don’t want to miss a single song, the best thing is to subscribe to our newsletter – then every release lands straight in your inbox.

All 180 photos from the evening can be found in our 2026 photo gallery. They were taken by Matthias Stroezel, who photographed the entire evening for us – thank you so much, Matthias! The first moving impressions are available as reels on our Instagram channel.

Thank you to the WUAHL family

An evening like this only happens because an incredible number of people pitch in – and all of them do so as volunteers. Thank you to the amazing WUAHL family: to all the soloists, to the band, to the vocal ensemble, to the Solitude-Chor Stuttgart, the Soul Voices and the Wolfbusch Children’s and Youth Choir with their conductors, to our musical director Yvi Szoncsò, and to Petra Rennings and Yahya Salman for presenting the evening. Thank you to Patrick Fischer and the team at DOSONI-VT for the lighting and sound that turned the church into a concert hall.

And a huge thank-you to all the hard-working helpers behind the scenes: setting up and taking down, at the entrance, in the cloakroom, at the bar and at the information tables – above all Gudrun and her team. Thank you to our supporters and sponsors, to our patron Jürgen Schwarz and the Gymnasium Rutesheim, and to the Friedenskirche Ludwigsburg for their warm hospitality.

What happens next?

The donation will be handed over to HOPPS in the coming weeks – together with the Gymnasium Rutesheim. We will keep you posted here on our website. By the way, at the concert itself the Gymnasium Rutesheim presented us with a cheque for an incredible 10,000 euros – thank you!

How was the evening for you? We would be delighted to hear your feedback. And if you’d like to save the next date already: on 13 November 2027 we continue with WUAHL pianissimo 2027.
